You live a beautiful farm life in Friends of Mineral Town where you can get pets like dogs, cats and raise chickens. But apart from those animals, you can also get and raise a horse. A horse can be especially beneficial to travel around the town and also serves as a nice companion. If you want to know how to get a horse in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town and how to take care of it, this guide will help you.
How to Care for a Horse in SoS: Friends Of Mineral Town
Unfortunately, you cannot go and buy a horse straight up. You have to visit the first Derby on the 18th Spring where you can bet on horse races. Once you do that, a character named Mugi will come to your farm. But he won’t be alone – he will bring along a brown pony with him. Mugi will tell you that this foal is not feeling well and needs love and care. He’ll ask you if you want to raise him yourself.

At this point, you can either accept or decline. When you accept, the next thing you need to do is give a name to your first horse. Mugi will give you some tips to raise a horse as well so make sure to follow those guidelines. Here’s how to raise a foal:
- Brush the foal
- No need to give it food but you can provide some Pet Treats
- Talk and show attention
After 90 days, the foal will become a fully grown horse. If you have not done a good job of showing love and care, Mugi will take the horse back on the 90th day. Make sure that you have built a friendship of at least 4 hearts. In case Mugi does end up taking the horse back, he will return it to you after a year.
So this is all about getting your first horse and raising it well. When your horse is an adult, it can participate in a horse derby too. For more such helpful tips, check out our SoS: Friends of Mineral Town guides right away.
