Mods just make everything much simpler, cooler, and personal in the game. However, there has been a little confusion as to how to install the mods for Stardew Valley. The Stardew Valley mods are fully supported on Mac, Linux, and Windows officially. They are unofficially supported on Android. Here are the steps to download the mods and the things you need to use me.
How To Install Stardew Valley Mods?
To install mods for Stardew Valley, you will need SMAPI which is the mods installer. This installer works with GOG and Steam achievements without any problems and will have built-in support for the mods. These are the steps to get the SMAPI:
- Open Stardew Valley without SMAPI once for completing the first-time setup.
- Once done, find the latest version of SMAPI and download it.
- A .zip file will be installed which you will need to extract. You can extract it anywhere but your game folder
- Select the install option on Windows.bat¹. You will get the rest of the instructions there to follow.
Once your SMAPI is set up, download the desired mods for Stardew Valley. Install the mod and extract the zip file in the ‘Mods’ folder of your game. If the name of your mod is xyz, your path should look like this:
- Stardew Valley/
- Mods/
- xyz/
- xyz.dll
- manifest.json
If in case the mod does not work, then it could be because the mod will not be compatible with the SMAPI or the latest version of the game. SMAPI has its own list of mods that are compatible so go through them once before you install any kind of mods so that you do not corrupt your save.
