SnowRunner looks like someone took the Deadliest Roads TV show and made a game out of it, there is danger everywhere and you will more often come across obstacles while you’re transporting things from one place to another. If you are fairly new to this game, then you probably should read up on the rest of this guide.
Beginners Tips To Become The Best SnowRunner Driver
SnowRunner can become a brutal game and this unforgiving weather will keep on challenging you whether you are new or a veteran, but knowing a few things before jumping headfirst will help you clear a few things up.
Table of Contents
Scouting
Scouting is essential in SnowRunner, you never know what lies ahead in the road and often times the bridges and roads have collapsed and you don’t want to face this while carrying heavy loads. You should put in the time and effort to uncover the entire map; you can clear a lot of it up by going straight for the watchtowers.
But other than that, you should also scout the entire route before beginning your journey with a larger vehicle.
Clear Obstacles
As you play along in SnowRunner, one thing becomes quite clear is that you will come across some of the other obstacles which will prevent you from progressing. These obstacles will often be placed cleverly between two checkpoints.
Now, these obstacles can be in the form of broken bridges or even roads with debris or rockfalls. It is important that you clear these obstacles as soon as possible. These will enable you to take your large trucks later on from the same path saving a lot of time.
Spare Vehicles
As you journey along the weary roads in SnowRunner, you will come across a few abandoned cars along the way. Now some of these cars can be added to your garage straight away while others will require some repair works.
Get as many spare vehicles as you can and sell those which you won’t require in the game. This will bring another influx of cash to your game. Early on you will be cash strapped and this will prove to be a nice income. The best things are the fact that any vehicle that you sell you will be able to purchase it for the same price.
Trailers
Trailers are often an expensive purchase, but you will be surprised to learn that you can find abandoned trailers on the side of the road in SnowRunner. You won’t be able to sell these trailers but what you can do is recover them and take to a nearby checkpoint.
Before you get on with this, make sure that you have the correct vehicle to haul the trailer in the game, this will save you a lot of money and you won’t have to purchase a new one.
Upgrades
Upgrades are something that you will have to keep an eye on throughout the game, as you keep increasing your Drive Rank in SnowRunner. Early on you will have access to a small number of vehicles and this only increases as you upgrade your vehicles whenever you Drink Rank increases.
Balance the upgrades and you should have a smoother experience as you get comfortable in the game.
Day Time Driving
Driving through the night is not only risky but can be careless as you won’t have visibility on what’s ahead of you. Smaller debris has the potential to ruin your missions and will greatly affect your performance as a driver in SnowRunner.
It is recommended that you keep driving during the day time and when it is night time you can always open up the map to skip from dusk to morning and then continue ahead.
Winch
You won’t believe the number of times the winch feature is going to come handy in SnowRunner. Basically, what you have to do is keep an eye out for a strong tree or a post that you can winch before getting into a risky spot.
There is a learning curve to the winch but the sooner you master its technique the better it will be for you in the game as you will be able to get out of tough spots whenever needed.
AWD
Also equipping engageable differentials and special off-road tires will help you tremendously get out of situations where you would be stuck for hours. If you find yourself stuck somewhere, do not try to power through the situation as it will only worsen it. Instead, you can try turning your steering side to side to get out.
Also, try to gently apply the gas pedal instead of putting the pedal to the metal.
Online Gameplay
When you get the chance, make sure to jump into the online community for a private room or public matchmaking. You can get up to 4 players in a session. This will greatly reduce the amount of time needed to get to a checkpoint by yourself.
With different people, you can assign a role to every member and get things done quicker than ever before. This will also allow you to get indulged in the community.
The co-op mode is persistent and any money you make or Driver Rank XP earned will carry over to your game as well. Just remember to park your truck in the garage and get it back before logging out.
