A few days ago the latest version of Skype for Windows 8 has been leaked into the web and if you can get your hands on it you can install it and test it.
Because Skype with new “modern UI” isn’t yet available in the Windows Store there are some hoops you need to jump to get the app installed.
Download the MetroSkype_1.0.0.128_x86.zip file from here (http://www.2shared.com/file/h7OZTS7k/MetroSkype_100128_x86.html).
Extract the zip file
Open the extracted folder, right-click “Add-AppDevPackage.ps1″ file and select “Run with PowerShell”.
Then press Enter. You’ll need a Windows 8 developer key in order to continue the install.
To obtain a developer license for Windows 8 click “I Agree” in the dialog box that will pop-up.
Sign-in with your Live, Hotmail or Outlook.com email account and you’ll receive a license.
Back in the PowerShell user interface, hit Y and then Enter to finalize the install.
What is left to do now is to simply go to the Start screen and start Skype. Enjoy!
Things to keep in mind: This version of Skype (Metro style) is a preview app, you cannot edit or add settings, it still bugging, so thing may not work well.
Install Skype for Windows 8 interface as a test and nothing more until it is available in the Windows Store.
