Samsung plans to showcase its new wearable tech running the next version of Wear OS at Mobile World Congress on June 28.
The company revealed plans to showcase some of its latest advancements on Monday. One of the biggest focuses is on Wear OS, the newest version of Google’s Android Watch operating system, which recently teamed up with Tyzen to create a completely new experience. Engadget reports that Samsung also plans to show off some of the big security enhancements for the Galaxy ecosystem.
It’s unclear if this event will actually deliver any new devices, as it isn’t one of Samsung’s usual Galaxy Unpacked keynotes. Instead, it is more likely the showcase will focus purely on Wear OS and other operating system enhancements being made to Samsung’s mobile ecosystem.
Still, for those using Samsung wearables like its Galaxy smartwatches, getting a first look at what Wear OS will look like on those devices is worth checking out. After all, it will be the default operating system for those watches going forward.
The session is set to kick off at 19:15 CET (1:15 p.m. ET) on June 28 on the Samsung YouTube channel. Samsung hasn’t revealed how long the session will last, but users looking for more info on what Samsung has cooking should tune in.
Samsung is one of the last big companies still set to appear at the 2021 Mobile World Congress, as many have already dropped out. It is worth noting that, at the moment, all of Samsung’s plans for the Mobile World Congress appear to be virtual.
