The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is the Windows 10 tablet I’ve been waiting for for content consumption. At CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Samsung is showing off a brand new tablet running Windows 10 that carries the “Galaxy” name, which is something the company usually reserves for devices running Google’s operating system.
It would appear there is a good reason for the Galaxy name, as the tablet is very similar to Samsung’s Android tablet line. The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S tablet also shares various similarities with the Surface line from Microsoft, as the device features stylus support and a detachable keyboard case.
The device has been designed for portability. Thanks to its fanless design using the latest Intel Core M processor, the tablet is thinner and lighter than the Surface Pro 4. However, due to the compact design, there isn’t many expansion ports as you do with the Microsoft’s tablet line. The TabPro S only features a USB Type-C port, but Samsung has announced that will be offering an optional accessory port hub, which will include HDMI, USB Type-A, and USB Type-C ports to connect external monitors or other type of accessories.
The Galaxy TabPro S tablet running Windows 10 most impressive feature is the Super AMOLED display. It’s a 12-inch display with a 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution, which offers bright and vivid colors and offers really good viewing angles. Something that should be expected as Samsung is known to ship great displays in its handset line. Even more impressive, the company claims that a single 2.5-hours charge using the USB Type-C connector will provide up to 10 hours of battery life.

Another great feature of the premium 2-in-1 tablet from Samsung is the sleek keyboard case, which comes included with the tablet and not as an optional accessory. The keyboard is very thin and light and it offers dual-angle viewing, which makes it very comfortable to work with any application. In addition, the keyboard features a Pogo pin connector that eliminates the need for separately charging or pairing.
Although, the keyboard doesn’t offer iris or fingerprint scanner, Samsung is also included a piece of software that will allow users to use their phone fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
While the tablet will include the keyboard case, it’s important to note that the Bluetooth Pen and port hub will be available as optional accessories.
Customers will also have the option to get the Galaxy TabPro S running Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro. The TabPro S also the first tablet running Microsoft’s newest operating system to support LTE Cat 6 connectivity.
Samsung says that the Galaxy TabPro S will be available worldwide starting February 2016, and in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada will be available through the Microsoft Store. Pricing is yet to be announced.
