Samsung has recently launched the mini version of the much appreciated Galaxy S5- the Galaxy S5 mini. The new smartphone by Samsung has almost all of the features which are contained in the Galaxy S5, but the specifications are quite different, which makes it a mini version.
The Galaxy S5 mini comes with Super AMOLED capacitive 4.5 inches 720 X 1280 touchscreen, and is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Physically the phone measures 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1 mm and weighs 120g. Available in the market with the internal storage of 16 GB with microSD card slot supporting upto 64 GB, it has a 1.5 GB RAM inside it to handle the applications. The phone has a 1.4 GHz quad core processor, while the chipset and GPU are still unspecified. For the photography options, there is a 8 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED Flash, which can record 1080p videos as 30 fps, and for the selfies and video calls, there is a 2.1 MP front camera with the same video recording option. All these will be supported by a 21oo mAh battery, while the talktime and standby time are yet to be checked since they are not specified by Samsung.
While these were the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini which are different from that of the Galaxy S5, rest of the features are almost similar, which means it has the PayPal certified fingerprint sensor, and an IP67 certification too, which makes it water resistant upto 1 metres and 30 minutes in addition to the dust resistant too. The phone will have the same TouchWiz user interface, and will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. Heart rate sensor too will be included in the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini, along with several other sensors such as smart stay, smart pause and smart scroll. The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold color options, and will have a TBD Radio (Radio was absent in Galaxy S5, and this is a good addition as many users missed it). For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, and Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC support, InfraRed port and microUSB v2.0.
With all these specifications included quite lower than the Galaxy S5, let’s hope the Galaxy S5 mini will be priced competitively (it is expected to be priced somewhere around $399, and we’ll update you soon as soon as we hear something).
