If you own a Samsung Galaxy S4 and your carrier is AT&T, you have a reason to be happy. Samsung Galaxy S4 for AT&T gets Lollipop update. The carrier is pushing the Lollipop update over-the-air to the Samsung’s old flagship, which makes them jump from 4.4.4 KitKat to 5.0.1 Lollipop.
Those whose phone is AT&T’s Galaxy S4, might already got the update notification. If you have got one and not updated yet, click on the notification, and then proceed forwards to download the update file. The download comes in at 947MB, and since the file size is pretty large, you would like to connect to a Wi-Fi network before downloading the update. After the completion of download, you can install it, but make sure that your device has at least 40% of charge left in it (if not, plug in your device first and then install the update after your phone has sufficient charge left), as you would not want to brick your device. After the installation, your phone will restart multiple times, and will finally boot with the Lollipop. After applying the update, your phone will run Android 5.0.1, build number LRX22C.1337UCUGOC3.
The update is being rolled out in phases, and hence your phone might take some time to receive the update, so do not panic if your phone haven’t received it yet. If you’re impatient, you can manually check by going to Settings > More > About device > Software update.
The Lollipop for the Galaxy S4 as usual has the material design, and comes with brand new ART runtime. Aside from everything that Lollipop brings with it, you obviously also get Samsung’s refreshed TouchWiz UI – with punchier colors and whatnot. Other highlights are:
- Songs, photos, apps and even recent searches from one Android device can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices.
- New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions
- Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through
- Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators
- Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car
- Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen
- Removal of Code Scanner, Browser Bar and Softcard apps
Since the 5.0.1 is a bug-solved version of Lollipop, we expect to see less bugs in this device, but can be little laggy due to the Samsung’s TouchWiz over it. If you have installed the update, you can share your experience in the comment section below.

- Touchwiz ui looks great like a lollipop but some apps are not working great. the phone use the ram very much. the phone use ram go to 1.52 gb some time but normally it use 1.43gb 5 2 of 2gb. please give me a solution how can I reduce my ram uses. in kitkat my phone works on only 0.90 gb of ram please tell me some solutions
