Samsung revealed a new 14-inch Chromebook Go on Tuesday, a laptop not to be confused with the recently released Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi) laptop.
The new Galaxy Chromebook Go features a 14-inch TFT HD display and runs Chrome OS. While the naming convention is similar, this is not the same model as Samsung’s Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi), which uses Windows 10. The new Chromebook Go also will be a little larger and heavier than the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi).
Another distinction is that this new Chromebook Go uses an Intel N4500 Celeron processor, compared to the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi)’s Qualcomm 7c Gen. 2 Snapdragon. The Chromebook Go also uses a 45W USB Type-C charger, while the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi) has a 25W USB Type-C fast charger. Rounding out the major differences, the Chromebook Go comes with two 1.5W stereo speakers, which seems to be a step back from the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi)’s Dolby Atmos speakers.
The rest of the specs are fairly similar between the new Chromebook Go and the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi). Both offer 42.3 Wh of battery life, a 720p HD camera, 14-inch TFT HD displays, 4-8GB of memory, and up to 128GB of storage. It’s worth noting that, despite sharing the same display size, the Chromebook Go has a resolution of 1366 x 768, versus the 1920 x 1080 found in the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi). Both models also include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, though the new Chromebook Go offers Wi-Fi 6 over the Galaxy Book’ (Wi-Fi)’s Wi-Fi 5.
Pricing for the Galaxy Chromebook Go has not been revealed yet, but 9to5Google speculates it will likely cost under $400—another potential similarity with the Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi), at $349,
