Hair Tonic is one of the easiest items you can get right from the start of Chapter 2: Horseshoe Overlook. They are easily available throughout the game. But many players are not sure how to use them. They are not easy to find in the item wheel, nor do they show up in the ‘Tonic’ tab in Arthur’s Satchel. But today we will help you to easily find this item, and use it to get the look you desire in the game. So let’s look at everything to know about hair growth rate, where to buy & get Hair Tone, and how to use it in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2).

RDR2 Hair Tonic: Where to Buy, Get & How to Use

Hair Tonic is unlocked in Red Dead Redemption 2 as soon as you enter Chapter 2: Horseshoe Overlook. There are 4 main ways to get & use Hair Tonic in RDR2:

  • Buy for $3.75 from shelves in general stores
  • Buy for $3.75 from any store catalog
  • Loot from enemies (free)
  • Pick up from different locations on the game map (free)

Once you have a Hair Tonic, you can use it by selecting it from the Satchel. To do this open Satchel>go to the Kit tab>click on the Hair Tonic icon.

Your beard will stop growing on its own at stage 6. The only way to go beyond is to consume tonics. Consuming hair tonics double the growth rate for up to two stages. And the effect stacks if you consume two or three hair tonics, leading to an x4 and x8 growth rate respectively. Here are the in-game details of hair growth stages:

Also if your bread growth stage is less than 5, then you should not waste by stacking together 3 tonics. There will not be enough in-game time as per the chart above, to grow your hair to max length. So only stack up 3 tonics once you reach stage 5 beard level.
