The homescreen on an Android device is where you can place shortcuts for various apps, widgets, folders, and everything else that you want to get access to as soon as you unlock your screen. It lets you jump to almost all the functions on your device, including web browsers, calculators, email apps, and so on.

While it has options for almost all the functions on your device, it lacks a few of them dealing with the Settings. You can’t enable or disable WiFi, Bluetooth, or change any other settings without heading to the menu, tapping Settings and then finding the option that you want to activate or deactivate, though it can be done from the notification bar if your device has it.

In order to add the aforementioned functionality to your homescreen, an Android developer has come up with an app called Power Toggles. What this app does is let you put shortcuts for various system settings on your homescreen. That way you don’t need to go through a number of screens before you can turn on Bluetooth or change a setting on your device. It just lets you control all the settings right from your homescreen. Here’s how you can use it:

Adding Quick Settings Toggles

Download the Power Toggles app from the Google Play store on your device. It is a free app.

Launch the app from your app drawer.

Tap on Homescreen as that is where you can control the settings toggles. Since you have not added a Power Toggles widget to your homescreen, the app should say you do not have any active widgets. To add one, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the homescreen where you wish to place the settings toggles. Make sure you choose the one that you can easily go to. Choosing the seventh homescreen out of a total of twelve widgets will not make your work any easier. Once there, press the Menu button and select “Add apps and widgets.” It lets you add a new widget to your homescreen.

  2. When the menu launches for you to select apps/widgets that you want to add to your homescreen, tap on “Widgets” on the top and you will see all the widgets available on your device. All of these widgets can be added to your homescreen provided there is enough space available.

  3. Once in the Widgets panel, find the “Power Toggles” widget. Keep swiping through the screens until you find it. When it is found, drag it over to your homescreen.

  4. As soon as you drop the widget onto your homescreen, you should see a configuration panel that looks like the below image. It helps you customize the widget so that it matches with the style of your wallpaper or the style of your device.

  5. By default, you are provided with seven settings toggles. In case the one you are looking for is not one of these seven toggles, tap on the button that says “Add Toggle” and you will be taken to the toggles panel for the app.

  6. Here is where you will find tons of toggles to add to your homescreen. It includes Hotspot, Bluetooth Tether, USB Tether, Airplane mode, NFC, and many more that you can add to your homescreen for quick enabling/disabling. Tap on any and it will be added to the widget that you have placed on your homescreen.

  7. Now when you touch any of the toggles on the Power Toggles widget, the corresponding feature will be enabled or disabled based on its current status (if it’s already enabled, touching the option will disable it).

  8. You can now control almost all of the setting options right from the homescreen on your Android device.

Conclusion

Every second of your time is precious, and therefore you shouldn’t miss getting the aforementioned functionality on your device. Power Toggles helps you save time that you would otherwise spend switching between various screens to accomplish a task that can be done with just a single tap.

Happy toggling!
