You can attach a Google doc to a Google Calendar event with just a simple step so that you and all event invitees have access to the Doc when needed, without having to copy and paste links or email docs. Here’s how:

  • Open Google Calendar and select Create.
  • Fill in your event details, such as the name and location, and add your invitees. Then, select More Options.
  • In the More Options window, select the paperclip to attach a file.
  • Click on a file, then choose Select.
  • Make any other edits necessary (for example, add attendees) and click Save to return to the Calendar view.
  • If you click on the event back in Calendar view, you’ll see your file attached.
  • Select the attached file to open it. The other meeting attendees can do the same.

Grant Viewing or Editing Privileges to Attendees

While you have the attachment open in Google Docs, click Share in the upper right corner of the screen. Then, select the appropriate level of privileges for each recipient: Editor, Viewer, or Commenter.

Make any other edits necessary (for example, add attendees) and click Save to return to the Calendar view.
