On 18th August 2022 Oppo launched and delivered ColorOS 13. As of 2022 current ColorOS 13 skin has been a faster rollout as compared to the older versions and has been updated across 33 smartphone models worldwide. It became the “fastest and biggest update in the history of ColorOS”. Following this, Oppo has further decided to give 4 years of ColorOS software updates to the Flagships following the steps of Samsung and OnePlus.
Specific premium models will receive four OS updates and five years of security patches. This is in line with the commitment OnePlus made earlier this year. In 2021, Samsung started offering this update schedule for its flagships.
In order to enhance user experience, the company says it will introduce a new update policy with an aim to enable users to keep their devices for longer, hence making their devices more durable and more stable. For its current flagship models, the company offers three ColorOS updates and four years of security updates.
Oppo has promised 4 major ColorOS updates, users need to note that they are not Android updates. Thus, only ColorOS versions would be bumped up instead of the Android version, since ColorOS updates are independent of Android updates.
It appears that the company’s previous flagships such as the Find X5 series will not be included in the new update policy starting in 2023.
The updates for ColorOS 13 are under process for Find X2, Reno7 Pro 5G, Reno7 5G, Reno6 Pro 5G, Reno6 Pro 5G, Reno6 5G, Reno5 Pro 5G, F21s Pro, F21s Pro 5G, F19 Pro+, and A74 5G Smartphones. Till December 23, smartphones including the F21s Pro 5G and F19s, F19, and A77s will be updated with ColorOS 13. On December 28, ColorOS 13 will receive its official version upgrade for the Reno5 Pro 5G and F19 Pro+ 5G, while the A74 5G device will receive it on December 29. On devices including the Reno8 Pro 5G, Reno8 5G, F21 Pro 5G, F21 Pro, K10 5G, K10, A96, Reno7 5G, and Reno6 5G, the update is already in progress. Thereafter, Oppo will be on the similar steps of Samsung and OnePlus to give 4 Years Software Updates.
