Nvidia has finally revealed its new GeForce RTX 20 GPU series, which comes with three new video cards, including the RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, and RTX 2070 to succeed the current GTX series.
The new graphics processors are based on Nvidia’s Turing architecture, which also makes the push of real-time ray-tracing, 4K HDR gaming at 60 frames per second, and new artificial intelligence capabilities.
Also, this time around you’ll see “RTX” in the name, instead of “GTX,” because the Nvidia wants to emphasize ray-tracing, which is a new technology that renders lighting in real-time as it bounces out to create a reflection of the element in a particular scene. In other words, it’s a new technology that mimics a more realistic physical behavior of the light.
According to the company, the new graphics card will deliver up six times more performance than its previous predecessor, Pascal architecture.
Founders Editions and third-party cards
Similar to the previous generation, there will be two variants of each cards, the ones available from third-party vendors and the Founders Edition that will be sold in Nvidia’s website.
Among the third-party companies, you’ll find Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Zotac, PNY, and EVGA offering the new RTX 20 series cards, which you can preorder today in Newegg.
As for pricing, the RTX 2070 will start at $499, while the RTX 2080 will have a suggested price of $699, and the RTX 2080 Ti will go for $999.
If you want the Founders Edition variant, you’ll be paying a little more. The GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition will sell for $599, the RTX 2080 Founders Edition will go for $799, and the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition will be priced at $1199.
All the new graphics cards will ship starting September 20, 2018.
New gaming PCs with GeForce RTX cards
Alongside the unveiling of the new GPUs, a number of PC manufacturers, including Dell, Acer, and HP also announced several new gaming rigs featuring the new cards from Nvidia.
Dell announced a few new Alienware computers, including a new version of the Aurora and Area 51, which will come with the option of GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, and RTX 2070 GPUs and with up to an Intel Core i9 18-core processor.
These new desktops are expected to ship sometime in September, and pricing are yet to be announced.
Acer is another manufacturer making an early jump to Nvidia’s newest Turing architecture videos cards announcing a refresh to its Predator Orion 9000 series PCs, which will feature up to an RTX 2080 Ti and Intel Core i9 processor.
The Predator Orion 5000 series with an RTX 2080 GPU and up to a Core i7 processor from Intel. In addition, the Predator Orion 3000 series is also getting a refresh, but with the RTX 2070 GPU and Intel’s Core i7 processor.
According to Acer, these new devices will be available in September, and pricing are yet to be announced.
HP is also announcing that will be adding the new Nvidia RTX 2080 cards to its OMEN Obelisk desktop computers, and customers will have the option of Intel as well as AMD processors.
The new OMEN desktop will ship in September, and pricing will start at $880.
