Microsoft confirms that the next version of Xbox console is in the works. During the Xbox E3 briefing, the company announced a slew of new games coming to the platform, but no new hardware has been introduced, because the Xbox One X still new, and it’s still the best and most powerful console in the market.
However, during the conference Executive President of Gaming at Microsoft, Phil Spencer, without sharing a lot of details has confirmed that the company is already working on its next console.
According to Spencer, the Xbox One X team is already developing the next line of Xbox consoles, which of course, they’re expected to be even more powerful than the current versions.
Although the company is not sharing any additional information about release date, tech specs, or pricing, Thurrott reveals that the new consoles will be available in 2020. Even further, the report says that Microsoft describes Xbox ‘Scarlett’ as a family of devices, which means that we’ll be seeing multiple pieces of hardware being released.
In addition, Phil Spencer, also revealed that the company continues to invest on Microsoft AI for gaming, and on its streaming game service to bring gaming to any device, including Xbox, PCs, and phones, reducing the need for powerful hardware to play games.
Again, the company isn’t sharing when this service will be available, but previously, Microsoft said that Xbox game streaming was expected within three years.
