With the release of Firefox 6 also quietly came the release of Thunderbird 6, the Mozilla’s email client, as well. Now the two Mozilla software releases are synchronize, so from this point forward you can expect to have a new version of Thunderbird every time a new version of Firefox is released — about every 6 weeks. There are not too many new features, but this release does come with many bug fixes and now also the software is based on their Gecko 6 engine.

New features for Thunderbird 6 include:

  • Support for Windows 7 Jump List
  • Microsoft Outlook import has been improved
  • Better theme support
  • User interface improvements
  • Speed and stability improvements
  • Download Thunderbird 6 for Windows, Linux and Mac
  • Find more information at the Thunderbird Release Notes page
